Really - March 4th! – to the dogs

The past 3 days went to the dogs – two of them literally.

I'm working on a commission, a pet portrait of 2 dogs. Things seemed to be going fine Wednesday until I realized I really needed the painting to be bigger than what I had. So I started not quite from scratch the next day. I thought I might finish it in the afternoon after getting this blog rolling, but this took up much more of the day and many more decisions than I thought it would. And I don't have as much decision power since the accident, which is probably what resulted in the painting-size flub.

This all piles up to mean I haven't written in days, and that the short story I'm really trying to wrap up will have to wait a little longer. Under normal conditions, I would power through and still try to get something done on it. I am a firm believer in showing up and putting in the time, But I also know how my still-recovering brain reacts when I push it after it tells me I shouldn't. It's taken a lot for me to come around to realizing I'm not under normal conditions, and it still may be a while.

But in all that painting, I did get to totally plow through Mur Lafferty's Ghost Train to New Orleans on audiobook. It took a while after the accident before I was able to 'do' those two things at once again – listen and paint. More on that some other time.

Coming MARCH FOURTH! – New Blog, New Goals

In the wake of an extended period of hiatus and spotty behavior over at my Amazing Stories blog, I am re-committing to this crazy little thing called blogging. But I'm approaching it with a different, renewed perspective and a shift in my goals.

I will continue my blog at Amazing Stories with its focus on creativity, and I aim to get that to 2x per month consistently again – that may mean slightly recycled content from here from time to time. But here, I'm going to blog about anything and everything, in typically shorter posts – daily. Well, daily for weekdays, at any rate – I'll take the weekends off for now.

Content will include but not be limited to:
  • What got done yesterday/ last week, writing and painting
  • Cat shenanigans
  • Creativilty
  • What music I've had stuck in my head
  • Professional issues for both authors & artists
  • Reports on headaches / healing / head injury from the accident
  • Whatever the heck I feel like
  • Whatever the _hell_ I feel like
  • Whatever the hell I feel like!!

I think the challenge in my other blogging adventures came from trying to focus on one area– perhaps too hard. Also, I've tried to keep them somewhat professional. Fear not, that will not be the case here. I'm aiming for more "uncut" and off-the-cuff here.

So join me, subscribe, I'll share links at Facebook, and I'll have a way to sign up for newsletters shortly. But not today. Figuring out how I wanted to do this thing and then doing this thing has taken up more than enough decision-making for one day.
